CAPITAL EUROPEIA DA CULTURA 2012

Manuel d’Oliveira conceived the opening show “Os Nossos Afectos”, for 2012 european culture capital, featuring Rio Kyao, Cristina Branco and Chico César.

“OS NOSSOS AFETOS”

“… making people think is everything. And the restlessness is the only leaver that can shift the world: being restless means teaching, educating, convincing and awaking.”

ALBERTO SAMPAIO, GUIMARÃES, 1884

“Os Nossos Afectos” is the title we gave to the opening show for Guimarães 2012, European Culture Capital.

As we like to call it, a fantasy, a restlessness in four rhythms: remembering, talking, experimenting, wishing.

A multidisciplinary show where music, dance, theatre, video and plastic arts are mixed into a common interactive event.

With a positive communication architecture, gratifying and ludic we intend to wow, involve and leave a mark with a cultural and artistic sense that correspond to the high expectations that are inherent to a show of this responsibility.

A challenge proposed to the community to share this adventure, inviting other people, mixing knowledges, mixing origins, mixing solid experiences.

With this in mind, we proposed making an event built on an original idea, eminently interactive, of great impact and specularity, one where the reading simplicity and the narrative quality transmit an immediate complicity to the spectator, one that will always be, under any circumstances, a special moment of magic and dazzle that brings back collective memories.
